I am a crusader for good food: natural, wholesome,
fresh and safe. My stock in trade is knowing what is best in Scottish produce,
where to find it and what to do with it. I frequently contribute in the media
on food related matters where my recipes are regularly photographed and my
articles published.
Managing and presenting cookery shows and related events has taken me all over
Scotland and beyond, Skye and East Lothian Food Festivals, Royal Highland and
Black Isle shows, Selfridges and the BBC Good Food Show, to name but a few.
I am also a dedicated supporter of the Slow Food movement (Education Convener
for Edinburgh Convivium), Food Hygiene and Natural Cook Chef Trainer, exponent
of the Scottish Healthy Choices Awards Scheme, and regular participant on the
Food Standards Agency road shows where health, hygiene and cooking merge
naturally.
Many in the industry know me from my long involvement with Taste of Scotland,
(3 years as inspector and 5 as Chief Inspector). Although that association came
to an end in September 2001 my consultancy service, established 18 years ago,
continues to offer independent expertise in food, tourism and hospitality from
my base in Edinburgh and studio kitchen in Fife.
