Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is an interesting herb which has had a resurgence in popularity over the past few years.
In the early days when we sold herbs at farmers’ markets up and down the country we would sell only a handful of mugwort plants over a whole season (often to Harry Potter fans who thought it sounded like something from Hogwarts), but these days it’s one of our most requested herbs.
Mugwort has both culinary and medicinal uses stretching back centuries and across continents. The Druids used it for divination, or predicting the future; it is used in traditional Chinese medicine, in particular for moxibustion, the practice of smouldering herbs over specific points on the body; more prosaically, it’s traditionally used in Germany as part of a stuffing for roast goose.
Mugwort Tea has a delicious lightly herby flavour, and is said to be calming and relaxing – a naturally caffeine free drink, and an alternative to chamomile tea. Our mugwort is organically grown, harvested and dried by us, and certified by the Soil Association. https://huntlyherbs.co.uk/
