We’ve just added this week’s Cafe at Home menu to the website.
This week’s menu kicks off with our usual freshly-baked bread with a lovely Arran mustard dip. Then we’re on to a true top-seller from our cafe classics menu – a salad of poached pear, Lanark Blue cheese (made by our friend Selina Cairns of Errington Cheese) and candied nuts. It’s simply delicious and so easy to put together at home.
The main course is a Grierson Organic slow-cooked chicken leg with a whole host of summer veg and a herb broth. It’s light and very tasty, perfect for these warm(-ish) days (Friday’s set to be a scorcher!). We’re serving this with Carroll’s Heritage Pink Fir Apple tatties 👌
As usual, a wee surprise cheese course from IJ Mellis – you’ll just have to wait and see – then on to pudding. This week we’re making a mousse with Katy Rodger’s crème fraîche and a big swirl of organic blackcurrant. The berries are from our dear friends at Phantassie Organics in East Lothian.
Then there’s some ground Artisan Roast coffee on me, plus a couple of ginger biscuits to round off a lovely meal. And of course, you choose whether you’d like a bottle of organic white or red wine. Both are great.

We had another incredible week of wonderful produce arriving to the kitchen from our hardworking growers, breeders and artisans. It’s been so good to see their friendly faces again. The restaurant has been busy – as busy as is possible with distancing – and it’s remarkable just how normal it feels. Once again, thanks to all who have been in or collected an ‘at home’ order. We really appreciate it.
