She loves playing with whisky to show it in all it’s facets, so she’ll be mixing cocktails, adding extras and showing its versatility, pairing it with different flavours and textures of food with six intriguing courses devised by head chef Joe. Contini is celebrating with three new menu launches and an abundance of fresh new season produce on all their menus. Happiness is also being able to harvest their first crop of Timperley Early rhubarb and wild garlic and leek from their own Kitchen Garden. I sampled their George Street menu the other day…absolutely delicious. All three of their venues have been Hitlisted and/or Tiplisted in The List Eating & Drinking Guide 2018/19. In addition The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant has been shortlisted as one of the finalists in the Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year for the South East region at The Scottish Hospitality Awards 2018 anda finalist in the The Sustainable Business Award at the CIS Excellence Awards. What a bumper year and well deserved.

Demijohn has an ideal Father’s Day Gift, Father’s Gold, as a 700ml bottle of this amber liquid has been dubbed. It is a particularly rare Islay malt whisky because of the limited production.  At 59.8% proof it is certainly strong and has been deliberately bottled at cask strength, which is part of its rarity and appeal.

In an exciting new move, the Scottish Menu Awards’ Chef of the Year, Paul Newman, is to extend opening times at Thyme at Errichel Restaurant to five nights a week from 1stMay. The two AA Rosette restaurant, perched romantically in the hills above Aberfeldy, Perthshire, has enjoyed full-house success to date, and the recent award has confirmed the popularity and quality of Paul’s celebrated field-to-fork approach to his food. Not only home to fine food but also pedigree pigs, Shetland Cattle and Sheep, hens, ducks and Shetland Ponies. They have produce for sale and beautiful rooms to tarry awhile.
