Tasted by the experts, their Organic Fennel Salami and Organic Beef Sirloin Steak from Peelham Farm have been awarded Great Taste Award Gold Stars
Berwickshire (Foulden), based Peelham Farm with its on-farm butchery and charcuterie facility, has been named among the top food and drink producers globally this year, picking up highly prized Great Taste Gold Star awards for its “Organic Fennel Salami with Red Wine” and its “Organic, Pasture-for-Life Sirloin Steak”. The Salami in particular was awarded the highest award of 3 gold stars.
Peelham Farm’s entries were two of more than 14,000 products put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process at the world’s most coveted food and drink awards. Their Pasture-for-Life Aberdeen Angus Sirloin Steak was one of the 29% awarded a Great Taste 1-star –described as ‘food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour’, and only a stunning 1.5% (241), including their Organic Fennel Salami were awarded the top Great Taste 3-stars and described as ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink’.
Describing the Fennel Salami the Judges comments concluded that “This salami has been made with great finesse to ensure first class texture and a stunning array of flavours; very well made indeed”; and of the Sirloin Steak “Grass-filled flavours” and “Very juicy, extremely juicy in fact, and a wonderfully beefy flavour for 28 days aged. Iron rich too. Delicious”.
The Fennel Salami with Red Wine is made with pork from their organic free ranging female pigs and is naturally fermented using Peelham’s own recipe of organic herbs and spices. The Beef Sirloin Steak was from their organic, pasture-for-life certified (ie never fed on grain), Aberdeen Angus and 28 day aged in the farm’s recently expanded hanging chill. SHOP HERE
