  • Winner of Best Informal Restaurant in West Region Thistle Awards 2017. Another real favourite – this venue has character, attitude, and great food. There is a vibrant bar upstairs and warm buzzing bistro downstairs. Menus are quite international in style using finest Scottish produce and often with a bit of humour too. Well worth a visit. I love their strapline…’Think Global Eat Local.’ Winner of Pub Excellence Award at Catering in Scotland Excellence Awards 2015.

Colin’s Dad was the great Ronnie Clydesdale who we all miss, but the legend lives lives on and The Chip, as it is affectionately known, goes from strength to strength… see entry…so you will be kept busy eating your way around this great city!

At Stravaigin they specialise in seasonal and unusual cheeses, with a carefully balanced selection provided by their local cheesemonger, George Mewes such as Dunlop Dairy’s ‘ Bonnet’ a hard pressed cheese made from Saanen and Toggenburg goats’ milk. This well-known and extremely popular cheese is named after the local town of Stewarton, ‘The Bonnet Toun’, where mills in the town made bonnets for the army regiments.  This delicious cheese is perfectly accompanied by homemade knackerbrod and chutney or Heather Hills farm honeycomb.’
