Rae’s in Montrose is gaining quite the reputation for the provenance and care taken with every ingredient on their menus. Their passion for the produce of Angus and neighbouring regions is crystal clear from their menus including seafood chowder, Arbroath smoky rillette, venison hotpot, confit game ravioli and seasonal desserts.
Their casual style is warm and friendly and their reviews consistently applaud their skills and flavours.
This lovely husband and wife team really care about the planet and sourcing food locally and sustainably without compromise. Wouter, chef patron, hails from The Netherlands, whilst Helen, director, is from Angus. They met in Amsterdam where Helen soon introduced Wouter to the Scottish larder and the rest is history!
