Charming family run country house hotel serving delicious local produce in their gracious dining rooms – their home smoked Loch Creran salmon is cured and marinated in juniper, rowan, Barbados sugar, herbs and whisky before they smoke it over oak for a succulent result. There are interlinking charming dining rooms befitting the character of this historic house, making it ideal for private functions too. There are open fires and one room is even lined with oak, using paneling recovered from the ruins of Ypres Cathedral!
With Scottish beef, local trout and scallops from Islay all on the menu, it is challenging to choose from such a tempting array…then splendid desserts to follow(pictured)! Here also are my island scallops, cooked to perfection with a velvety hollandaise.
There are some fascinating tales from the past associated with the house. Located just south of Oban, by the shore with glorious views over Loch Feochan, it is a super place to stay so why not use as a base to explore Argyll. Owned by three generations of the Craig family you will receive a wonderful welcome at this special place.
