BARWHEYS is a hard Ayrshire cheese from the unpasteurised milk of their pedigree Ayrshire cattle. The handmade cheeses are bandaged in traditional cotton cheesecloth, and carefully aged on wooden shelves for between 9 and 12 months. This is a magnificient traditional cheese with an excellent rounded flavour.
Some cheeses are SMOKED and there is also a new arrival on the scene, in limited supply, the BARWHEYS BEASTIE – a mature wonderfully complex cheese destined for Burns Suppers. No onsite retail – stockists include George Mews Cheese Shop on Byres Road and many more listed on their weblink.
Barwheys was awarded Gold Medals at the 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Royal Highland Shows. We were also awarded Reserve Overall Champion and Best Speciality Scottish Cheese at the 2015 Royal Highland Show.
