Scotland The Bread August News

It’s the season of ripening, in fields and our community, and we’re excited to share details of a number of projects-in-progress to add to your calendars: find out more about Breadsong – a joyful new project that invites local people to come together to learn the gentle art of breadmaking, with music in the mix. Just next week is a warm invitation to our Volunteer Open Day at Scotland The Bread HQ, and a few pages ahead of that in the diary we now have a date for the 2026 Scottish Bread Championship and Scottish Festival of Real Bread.

On the news front, we bring you an update from Common Grains last month and a flavourful report from Doughlicious Dumfries at Lochside Gala, where pizza-making met grain-growing and hand-milling.

We are partners in an experiment at St Andrews Botanic Garden find out how our trial plots are faring there, and hear about a different kind of collaboration with the new feature film Harvest.

The final way of getting involved highlighted this month is to help others do so, with our gift vouchers.
