For those of you on Orkney…
The Orkney Dive – Championing sustainable seafood and fishing
Date: Saturday 7th February 2026
Time: 5.30 – 9 pm
Venue: St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall, Main Hall, ORKNEY MAINLAND
Open Seas’ #DivedNotDredged campaign encourages the hospitality sector, food influencers and the public to support the scallop dive sector as a form of sustainable fishing which works in tandem with marine habitats, provides job opportunities for coastal communities and significantly contributes to Scotland’s reputation for premium, high quality seafood.
As part of the campaign and in collaboration with Patagonia, Open Seas has produced The Orkney Dive. The Orkney Dive is a conversation between chefs, scientists, divers and local businesses in Orkney and around Scotland about scallop diving. It seeks to shape a stronger relationship between Scottish seafood and the marine environment which provides it.
Join us for a screening of The Orkney Dive followed by a panel discussion on the multiple benefits of the hand-dive industry – including job opportunities; safeguarding of the marine environment; and its contribution to Scotland’s international premium quality food reputation.
