There’s a new bread shop in town (2025). Christie the Baker is now open at 218 High Street. J B Christie has a long history of baking, having begun trading at the end of WW2. The business was owned by two generations of the Christie family in North Lanarkshire before third-generation baker, Andrew Chisholm, took ownership 13 years ago. Andrew completed his bakery apprenticeship at 16 and was Technical Manager at Hutchisons Flour Mill in Kirkcaldy for 21 years.
Now, trading as Christie the Baker, Andrew aims to provide “quality baking through the generations” to all our customers – with their sweet treats packed in traditional ribbon-tied boxes to carry home!
With high street shops in Airdrie, Coatbridge and Whitburn, they have just opened their fourth shop in Linlithgow, with a huge selection of fresh-baked goodies This includes Scottish Baker Awards ‘best bread in Scotland’ plain loaf award-winning morning rolls, World-Champion Scotch Pies and their famous Domino Cake! In September 2024 at the National Bakery Awards in London they were crowned regional winner of the South of Scotland
Just Eat is available in three of their outlets – Airdrie, Whitburn and Coatbridge. Unfortunately, there are no delivery drivers in the Linlithgow area yet however the Just Eat menu is available as walk-in take away.
Andrew has made a couple of appearances on television – Paul Hollywoods Pies and Puds and recently on Food Unwrapped with Briony Williams.
