Profile
Bread for Good Community Benefit Society is the Limited Company behind Scotland The Bread and from now on, STB is known once again as Bread for Good CBS.
The Society ceased milling grain at the end of June 2026 and is no longer based at Bowhouse so address will be updated as soon as advised and as Scotland The Bread was the brand name given to the flour, that is shelved for the meantime.
Bread for Good CBS’s work has been – as always intended – a successful proof of concept: it is possible to grow excellent quality organic wheat and rye in Scotland, mill it in a way that preserves the high level of nutrients, and distribute it to like-minded bakers. As the Society approaches its (formal) 10th birthday, it plans to move on in order to share experiences and knowledge with potential replicators of this pilot.
Bread for Good CBS aims to engage further with agroecological research projects with whom they are already well connected, in particular to translate research into advocacy and to amplify its impact by making real bread more accessible. Bread for Good CBS will persevere in support of urgently required system change in the growing, milling, and baking of our staple food.
