Profile
The World’s first liquid deli has opened at Glenlair Steading, (Aug23) near Scotland’s food town of Castle Douglas. Selling mostly British-made quirky food and drink products, Demijohn has brought its original and distinctive ecofriendly method of retail to a beautiful and special part of rural South West Scotland to operate as both a visitor attraction and 21st century mail order hub for the first time.
The “liquid deli” encompasses an alchemy of selected oils, vinegars, liqueurs, non-alcoholic cordials and spirits, all displayed in flasks to taste and savour. You can shop online, look out for Angus at many trade fairs and with many new concessions at farm shops and delis including Craigie’s Farm Shop pictured.
Demijohn is constantly launching wonderfully inspired seasonal liqueurs to enjoy – the perfect gift and always look gorgeous on display – with oranges, brambles, sloes, whiskies and rum…so imaginative and creative.
Demijohn won another award from the World Sloe Gin Championships! Their delicious handmade Sloe Gin 22% won the new Boutique Distillery category in the annual World Sloe Gin Championships, and came second in their Artisan category. There is a bit of history to all this. The World Sloe Gin Championships are held annually at the George Inn pub in Frant, on the Kent / Sussex border, and Demijohn won their Artisan category 3 years running in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and then had a few years off from entering….While in no doubt that their Sloe Gin is a bit of winner every year, they are still pleased as punch to receive yet another award for it this year!
