This elegant red sandstone building with its grand oak staircase, ornate plasterwork and art nouveau fireplaces opened for business in 1902 as a Temperance Hotel. It has just undergone a wonderful major refurbishment. (More photos to follow soon). They have gone to great lengths to modernise the historic building sensitively whilst not losing its charm.
With 20 rooms, a bridal room and a spacious function suite it s ideal for special occasions and parties as well as a convivial evening out. Their menu displays traditional and local specialties with significant local sourcing – delicious meats and seafood from East Lothian and close by. It is ideal for business, leisure or a hop over from the golf course across the road!
Head Chef Paul Sellers has created an exciting selection of dishes, served in their The 1902 Grill Restaurant or the more informal lounge, as you choose. It is moments from the railway station too so a great base for touring Scotland. “It was recognized for it’s culinary excellence and service in 2017 by Visit Scotland who awarded it a “Taste our Best” award following their overnight visit”
