Claire and Godfrey, Lord Macdonald, for many years ran Kinloch and now it is in the expert hands of their daughter Isabella, with Chef Marcello Tully responsible for earning them 3AA Rosettes and a Michelin Star. Marcello is supported by his wife, Claire, who is Kitchen Manager. Marcello also runs bespoke courses for residents.
This time we visited in the afternoon and sampled their inviting Bar Menu whilst others in the dining room ate a leisurely lunch and ladies in the drawing room enjoyed afternoon tea! My warm roast beef sandwich and Bosse’s crème caramel dessert were both really delicious. Whilst Kinloch’s dinners are exceptional, it is also valuable to have places for tourists to go for fine food at other times of the day.
Lady Claire Macdonald has done wonders for Skye – indeed for all of Scotland.
