Welcome to the oldest inn on Skye in a most spectacular setting with great local food right on the water’s edge. Charlie took over this fabulous inn in 2019 and has created her own very special place here, falling in love with Skye: its beauty and its produce. Her background in hospitality and events makes her the perfect host. She has captured a successful medley of “traditional and modern, cosy and quirky,” along with her children who play an active role in welcoming guests – dog friendly too.
The Inn has 5 bedrooms each with a sea view, and alongside the restaurant, has snug corners to curl up with a book and a drink, or tarry awhile in the garden – even go for a canoe or a swim. Just the ticket for an island stay. The bar has many CAMRA awards, specialising in Isle of Skye and Scottish beer, whiskies, gins.
The Menu is a taste of Skye, focussing on the varied and splendid produce the island has to offer, often simply prepared celebrating the ingredients, particularly but not exclusively, all the local shellfish on the doorstep. Brimming with seafood and oozing enthusiasm for the landed produce, we dived in and ordered wild local venison with a red wine prune gravy, herb butter, salad, and fries on the side for Bosse, and the lobster pièce de résistance with vegetables, fries and a butter sauce for yours truly … that was after the flavoursome fish chowder and before the bowl of Charlie’s best seller, the langoustines. Bosse checked out the fine sticky toffee pudding too. The Inn also hosts various events from music, films, pop ups and weddings. A must when on Skye.
