Profile
Welcome to new Scottish Food Guide member Farmton Farm Honesty Hut. Spot its pretty blue facade en route between Auchterarder and Crieff. Debs and her family have created a beautiful and useful self-service farm shop on farm, selling not only their pasture fed meat, free range eggs and honey but also an impressive range from other local family artisan producers including herbal teas, handmade soaps, tatties and other vegetables in season, a selection of artisan cheese and soft drinks, Mossegiel milk on-tap, and local hand-dyed wools using indigenous plant dyes.
Buy yourself a latte to-go or sit at the wooden tables nearby, weather permitting, and drink in the beautiful scenery of Angus farmland and birdsong. There are feeders everywhere so bird-spotting is another bonus whilst shopping. The family are strong believers in farming with nature, using what comes naturally from the farm with minimum inputs, ensuring high quality produce that in turn is beneficial to Mother Earth.
Hives for honey are on-farm and they have a happy flock of 200 birds, providing both hen and duck eggs. All in all well worth a visit. Look out on their Facebook page for news of their regular curry takeaways. ordered in association with a local cook, these prove very popular to collect some Friday nights.
