A perfect place to break the journey on the A9 – or just a great place for a day trip. House of Bruar has developed from a prime foodie stop with an incredible award-winning delicatessen with a global selection of cheese, charcuterie and treats such as pies and scotch eggs. Joined with a carefully selected range of ladies and gents’ clothing, turn this into a very substantial retail destination – Butchery, kitchenware, clothing, home and garden, restaurant even an upmarket ‘Lobster, Fish and Chip shop’. You could easily spend the day here but also the perfect restorative retail & gourmet pause.
The Restaurant serves sausages, burgers and game from the in house, and again award-winning, Butchery; Scottish supplies of haggis, gourmet seafood are available aplenty for those wanting a taste of what the Highlands can offer. Breakfast options, soups, light dishes and substantial feasts. Counter service and absolutely delicious. I recommend the steak pie and their signature sausages, all come with vegetables, gravy and various potato options. Vegetarian dishes too of course.
The Food Hall is superb and extensive including a Q Guild Butchery department and massive selection of local produce and gardening ware outside on The Market Stall. There are fresh nuts and olive, a bakery, teas & coffees, with an excellent range of seafood too. You will see many well known Scottish brands alongside whiskies, gins and liqueurs. Remember to take your chill bag to it all bring home. By the way there are also the beautiful Falls of Bruar so you can walk off that chocolate cake afterwards! Their hampers make wonderful gifts.
The homeware has every kitchen serving & cookware you could wish for in an incredible range of designs. There’s also art and textiles and children’s clothes.
