This ingenious concept is a firm favourite with hikers and tourers, locals and tourists. You may be forgiven for thinking this is a fish & chip shop but whilst it’s on the menu, in its most sustainable form, this is so much more…buzzing and lively, super baking, fabulous location and multi-award winner! All meats for their sausages and burgers are sourced from 2 local butchers, their Glasgow-sourced coffee is Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Organic, and 3 tons of fresh local potatoes arrive every week! Haddock and Cod comes from MSC certified and managed stocks in Area 28 in the North East Arctic, and all their ingredients are sourced meticulously and mentioned by name on their menus. Their disposable plates and cutlery are all from the ethical Vegware – all in all well worth a visit!
They also are famed for their great range of gateaux and goodies – perfect for a treat after a hike and also awarded Grade A by Coeliac UK for their gluten-free food service.
The Real Food Cafe has been extended with a lovely new build and justly has a great reputation. It now has a food-to-go Kiosk too. Perfect to break the journey, whether touring in a car or hiking in the hills on the West Highland Way!
