Profile
This West End wine bar has been on the go for over 30 years and is a vibrant and popular meeting place. Indeed it is quite an institution – loved by its regulars and a glimpse of real Edinburgh for the passing tourist!
They make a point of sourcing seafood landed from small local boats, and their home made fishcakes are so popular I don’t think they dare take them off the menu! Their menus allow for light grazing or full dining and whilst there is always a delicious meat dish and a vegetarian option, it is their skill with seafood that I can never resist. They carefully source meats and wild game and support local suppliers for their kitchen. You can also order tempting sharing platters.
As their name suggests they are famed for their wine cellars too, with a host of well-selected wines, many offered by the glass. They also have on-line shop for wine too.
A valued haunt for locals, for refreshments en route home, or for more leisurely dining, evening or lunchtime. Whighams Wine Cellar is a short stone’s throw from Princes Street. Check out their website link for details of their jazz nights too.
