A well-established and exceptional addition to Orkney’s food & drink scene. Karin, founder creator of Orkney Sourdough Co., is a very gifted Swedish baker in love with Orkney. A professional chef to trade, she has worked in hotels in Copenhagen and Zanzibar before settling in Orkney with her family, creating masterpieces with dough. Karin only uses organic flours in the production, sourced in the UK, and also baking with the local bere meal from Barony Mill
Sweden has a well deserved reputation for excellent bread and Karin returned to her homeland to undertake her gastronomic immersion with some of the country’s best artisan bakers, bringing her new found skills back home to Kirkwall. Also a member of Real Bread Campaign.
Her sourdough range of loaves and rolls, along with her sweet rolls and pastries with seasonal and foraged fillings are available from Shearers in Kirkwall and also some days a week at @bayleafdelicatessen in Stromness. Much of her business is also private orders.

Here she can be seen with her cool cycle (pictured with Eva Gunnare, Essense of Lapland, at Orkney Science Festival) out and about. Her sourdoughs, sweet creations and cinnamon buns are in great demand. Contact her direct to place orders and Karin also supplies discerning local chefs.
