Profile
Memorable elevated lochside location with exceptional food and a roaring log fire. The ‘mothership’ of Mhor. Well worth seeking out. Mhor is renowned across Europe and beyond for its award-winning restaurant with chef proprietor Tom Lewis, Regional Ambassador for Central, Fife & Tayside Thistle Awards 2017.
Originally a hill sheep farm, Tom’s mother was first in the kitchen running an award-winning guesthouse so Tom certainly learned from childhood! This is real destination dining, up a single lane road near Rob Roy’s (reputed!) grave. The charming rambling farmhouse is a gentle shade of pink and has been considerably extended to create elegant accommodation.
Mhor to your Door is a quirky converted trailer come restaurant that can become your venue on a moor, by a loch or wherever your imagination takes you – subject to access of course! Another great innovation from Tom and his team.
Seeking the best bread for his restaurant, Tom opened Mhor Bread in nearby Callander – highly recommended…along with his informal award-winning dining experience, Mhor 84.
Tom and Chef Marysia are also offering gastronomy experiences: sharing their expertise in a specialist private event in our own classroom at Monachyle. Followed by a private Wine Safari, there really is no better way to mark a special occasion and celebrate.
Tom is inspirational, both in his own kitchen and when inspiring others. With bakehouse and fish shop in Callander, Mhor 84 and is still a working farm with estate reared venison, sheep, cattle, pigs and hens, it is a true family enterprise. Tom Lewis is quite a celebrity these days and his accolades well deserved. Members of the prestigious Scotch Beef Club.
In short, wonderful options for any foodie traveller.
