Thistle Winners for Central, Fife & Tayside 2022 Food Tourism Award & 2018/19 Thyme at Errichel Restaurant Best Eating Experience
Errichel is a very special inspiring place. Close to Aberfeldy yet in a world of its own. Becky and Paul are a winning combo: their enthusiasm for the land and heritage breeds, combined with Paul’s prestigious accolades for his skills in the kitchen. He has worked in kitchens and competed across the world and now brings these experiences to Errichel using only the finest produce, much of which is grown or reared on their Farm: Shetland cattle, Shetland sheep, geese, hens, ducks and Large Black Pigs.
Their fabulous deli farm shop Thyme Deli has a terrific array of provenance-sourced produce including Paul’s own award-winning jams, curds and marmalades, Errichel born & bred Shetland Beef Biltong and charcuterie. They also have a magnificent cheese display – all mouth-watering. Errichel is also a stockist of our book, “Meadows: The Swedish Farmer & The Scottish Cook.”
Errichel operates bistro dining with self-catering lodges and cottages within the grounds. The accommodation is of an exceptionally high standard, beautifully designed to maximise privacy and spectacular views.
Events are in Thyme at Errichel Restaurant, a beautiful Roundhouse in the main house. Errichel is available for bespoke options: weddings and celebrations. They also offer delightful informal lunches in the Thyme Bistro with beautiful views overs the grounds where you can watch their ducks and hens free ranging contentedly. The ever-changing menu reflects this couple’s passion for home reared and seasonal cooking par excellence. Menus also usually feature a Tagine, a signature dish of Paul’s inspired by his travels, using their own meats. (Shetland beef tagine pictured) There are mouth-watering vegetarian options too. The wine list is excellent and the service warm and friendly.
Check out the website for guided farm walks and nature tours. A wonderful taste adventure away from the hurly burly. They also organise Cheese Tasting events and other gourmet experiences.
Paul is a Slow Food Cooks Alliance Member, Chef of the Year Winner of Food & Drink Awards 2018, and RBST Award Winner 2022 Sustainable Chef of the Year (Joint Winner with Fred Berkmiller). Errichel is also now home to Scotland’s Ark of Taste Fruit Orchard, with the first trees planted in October 2021 to coincide with Glasgow hosting COP26.
