Praveen Kumar has restaurant Tabla and his Indian Cook School (click on Goodfoodology Section of Scottish Food Guide for Cook School ). World Cuisine Chef of the Year, Praveen Kumar and his wife Swarna, have created something very unique: Authentic Indian Cuisine at Tabla Indian Restaurant, their Indian Cook School and Ready to Eat At Home Meals, all using the best Scottish produce and supporting local producers on their menus. Praveen says, combined with family grown Indian spices imported exclusively for use in our businesses this ensures the very best that two continents have to offer. Awarded Takeaway of the Year at the 2023 Spice Awards.
The majority of Praveen’s fresh herbs and vegetables are grown in his own ‘beyond organic’ greenhouse and gardens. Fresh produce that goes right into your curries, along with chilli’s and spices grown on his parents fields in India – it doesn’t get more authentic than that!
They combine vegetables from their own market garden with local chicken, lamb and seafood, plus spices grown on their family farm in Southern India, nurtured, harvested and dried, sent direct from his family to their business in Perth. A winning combo!
The restaurant is most attractive and the service exceptional. Menus are filled with tempting dishes and we were spoilt for choice. Several familiar faces popped in for carry outs that Friday night too, so friends have already discovered this gem! We first met on stage at The Perth Show – here is Praveen in action!
